sustainability & care
In our production, we focus on limited editions that are orientated towards demand. The aim is therefore a no waste strategy. With our range of bag accessories, we offer the opportunity to make the bags interesting for many years and thus make them evergreen.
Many of the products, such as our acrylic chains, have several functions at the same time: bag chain, necklace or belt. The label thus supports the creativity of its customers and offers scope for individuality and personal styling. The manufacturers and partners we work with are based in Italy and Germany. These are mainly small to medium-sized family businesses that also produce fairly and sustainably.
For us, cooperating with carefully selected companies means investing in the future of local production and craftsmanship, which must be preserved at all costs.
The right care for your leather goods
Preserving Value with Style and Care
Genuine leather is a refined, durable natural material that develops character over time—provided it is properly maintained. To ensure that your bag, wallet, or accessory continues to impress with beauty and quality for years to come, mindful and professional care is essential.
Here’s how to protect, clean, and maintain your leather products - for many good years together.
- Why Leather Care Is Essential
Leather is both resilient and sensitive. It can be affected by moisture, humidity, rain, or snow. Without proper care, even the finest leather can lose its suppleness, shine, and eventually, its shape.
- Waterproofing – The First Line of Defence
Prevention is the best protection: Our leather goods are already waterproofed during production to shield them from external influences. Additional waterproofing is not initially necessary, but may be required over time depending on usage.
Use high-quality sprays or waxes designed specifically for leather. These protect against moisture and dirt while preserving breathability. Be sure to choose the right product for your specific type of leather - not all waterproofing agents are suitable for all leathers.
Note: Always test any product on an inconspicuous area first.
- Cleaning – Gentle but Effective
Before any care routine comes cleaning. Remove dirt and stains as soon as possible to prevent lasting marks. The right cleaning method depends on the type of leather:
Smooth leather (e.g. cowhide, calf, goatskin)
- Cleaning: Lint-free cloth and leather cleaning foam
- Care: Conditioning milk, wax spray, or leather lotion
Suede (e.g. deer, elk)
- Cleaning: Dry cloth, cleaning eraser, or foam
- Care: Apply with a brush using light pressure; avoid leather grease
Velour & Nubuck
- Features: Velvety, sanded surface
- Cleaning: Use a specialized cleaner in circular motions with light pressure
Patent leather
- Features: Glossy and sealed finish
- Cleaning: Slightly damp, soft cloth – no oily or greasy products
Oiled leather / Pull-up leather
- Features: Oil- or fat-treated with a characteristic patina
- Care: Use leather grease or dedicated products for oiled leather
- Note: This leather changes quickly with use - this is part of its unique charm
Important: Avoid rough sponges, acidic cleaners, nail polish remover, or pumice stones - they can permanently damage the leather.
- Drying – With Patience and Care
If your leather item gets wet, always let it dry at room temperature, away from direct heat or sunlight. Radiators or UV exposure can cause cracks, discoloration, or warping.
Tip: Placing newspaper inside a bag helps absorb moisture and maintain its shape.
- Stain Removal – With a Delicate Touch
A common issue: ink stains. In such cases, act fast. Special ink and pen removers - or in some cases, a cleaning eraser - can help. Caution: As always, test the product on a hidden area first. Important: The longer a stain stays on leather, the harder it is to remove.
- Don’t Forget the Lining
The inside of your bag deserves care, too. Depending on the material (nylon, fabric, or leather), the lining can be gently pulled outward and cleaned carefully with a cloth or brush. For stubborn stains, a second round of cleaning may be needed.
- Our Conclusion: The Golden Rules of Leather Care
Regular care preserves the beauty and extends the life of your leather goods.
- Always use appropriate products - sparingly and with precision.
- Test new products on a hidden area first.
- When in doubt, consult a professional leather cleaning service.
Leather is a natural product - unique and full of life. It deserves respect, attention, and loving care.
FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions About Leather Care
- Do I need to waterproof new leather products immediately?
No. Our products are already waterproofed at the factory. Re-waterproofing is only necessary after some time, depending on use and exposure.
- How often should I care for my leather bag?
It depends on how frequently it’s used. For regular use, we recommend light cleaning every 2–4 weeks and conditioning every 2–3 months.
- How can I tell what type of leather I have?
Smooth leather has a subtle or strong shine; open-pored leather like suede looks matte and feels velvety. Each type requires specific care.
- What should I do about water stains?
Gently blot immediately with a clean, dry cloth - never rub. Let the item dry slowly at room temperature - do not place it near a heater.
- Can I use home remedies to clean leather?
We strongly advise against it. Products like nail polish remover, lemon acid, or pumice stone can damage the leather. Only use specialized leather care products.
- What helps against ink stains?
Treat the area as soon as possible with a special stain remover - always test in a discreet spot first. Alternatively, a cleaning eraser may help if used with care.
- Does dark suede rub off on clothing?
The suede we use is pre-treated at the tannery with a fixation process to help lock in the colour. This significantly reduces colour transfer, although no method offers 100% protection.
